JUNETEENTH

Recognize Juneteenth

Learn about and support organizations focused on racial justice.

Juneteenth started in Texas in 1865 when 250,000 enslaved people were liberated. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It was on June 19th that the Union soldiers landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. This was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation - which had become official January 1, 1863. Take this day to educate, connect, reflect on, and celebrate the significance of this moment in Black history.

Make a commitment to give.
