Join Fashion Industry for Sustainability

Fashion is responsible for 10 percent of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions, 20 percent of global wastewater, and uses more energy than the aviation and shipping sectors combined (Columbia University, 2021). Join a community of professionals in the fashion and textile industry who are coming together to help change this. We can mitigate the impact of the industry by promoting and supporting sustainability in fashion. Fashion Industry for Sustainability (FIS) members gather each quarter to network, pool our collective donations, learn about nonprofits promoting sustainability, and vote on which ones to support together.

“As a personal stylist I feel it is essential that I am aware and understand the impact of the fashion industry on our environment. I want to share this information with my clientele so they know they have options and a choice to choose a better option of clothing when they can.”

“I appreciate the idea of growing a like-minded community. Particularly in sustainable fashion and textiles, our connections and network have been essential to the nonprofit that I run. I feel like me joining this group would be beneficial both personally and professionally in terms of being able to share thoughts and ideas and meet new people in similar positions.”

“I have made it my life goal to create awareness around sustainability and protecting our earth. There are so many causes out there that need attention, but none of them will exist if we do not start with educating the consumer.”
