A giving circle by Network of Engaged International Donors
About our group
Clean, accessible water is an absolute necessity in order for humans to live and prosper. But while progress has been made on the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 6 ("Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all") billions of people worldwide still lack access to clean water resources. One in three people do not have safe drinking water, two out of five people do not have a basic hand-washing facility with soap and water, and more than 50% of the global population lacks proper sanitation. Climate change exacerbates the situation by producing conditions that stress or destroy existing water resources; climate change also strongly contributes to the world's growing refugee crisis and accompanying water instability. The 2020 emergence of COVID-19 has further underlined the need for urgent action to enable universal access to clean water in order to protect global health and safety.
NEID’s Global Clean Water & Climate Change Giving Circle will meet once a month from December to June to better understand the global clean water challenge, how climate change further destabilizes water availability, and how donors can make a strategic difference by funding organizations that smartly confront the underlying issues. NEID Global membership is required to participate in a Giving Circle and each participant will ultimately be expected to contribute funds. NEID Global members will be asked to contribute a minimum of $1,200, while new-members are asked to first become NEID Global members ($500) and then contribute $1,000 to the Circle.
