Acorn Acres is the sole wildlife facility in the state dedicated to the underdogs: squirrels, bunnies, and groundhogs. These small creatures, along with others like mice, chipmunks, and voles, form the bedrock of our entire ecosystem. A balanced and healthy ecosystem is crucial for our survival; its collapse would jeopardize everything we rely on—our food, homes, and lives.

Acorn Acres provides a variety of STEM programs to educate community children, organizes engaging outreach events, and offers internship opportunities for local university students as well as volunteer opportunities for community members.

Additionally, our new clinic is the first-ever commercial wildlife clinic in Lancaster County. Voting for Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation is a vote to secure the future of our ecosystem!

It seems we all know someone with Alzheimers or dementia. This organization helped me so much with details up to the time of my mothers death from Dementia. I love that we can support them because this disease personally affects each of us in some way.

They lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other Dementia - by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.,

I've had the privilege of meeting some phenomenal staff members of this organization and learning about the numerous programs they offer to women with unplanned pregnancies. These 'accidents' are life changing, and many women do not have the education, financial and emotional support needed to thrive. A Woman's Concern has been supporting women in Lancaster since 1972. Clients range in age from 14 to over 35. They also provide counseling for youth and fathers, medical care, and much needed supplies (diapers, vitamins, formula, car seats and strollers). In 2023, they served 673 women who stumbled upon this organization through a Google search. Please consider supporting this organization and the women who need our help.

FREE Yoga for Veterans Program

This program is designed to call attention to trauma-related conditions and the power of yoga as a tool for healing.

“I’ve witnessed firsthand how important a consistent yoga and meditation practice is for veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress (PTS),” says Dr. Daniel Libby, a clinical psychologist and Executive Director of the Veterans Yoga Project.

More than 2 million American veterans are struggling with these PTS symptoms and an average of 20 American veterans commit suicide each day. The downward spiral that begins with physiological dysfunction leads to overwhelming symptoms, difficulty managing everyday stressors, “burned bridges,” and significant legal, medical, and financial difficulties.

The skills and the connections fostered in this FREE Yoga for Veterans program helps to support the evolution from post-traumatic stress to post-traumatic growth for veterans.

At The Holistic Center for Health and Wellbeing, we’re on a mission to bring yoga to all local Lancaster County – and beyond - veterans.

It’s deeper than, more than, just thanking a veteran for their service. It’s a tangible way to give back to those who have sacrificed in service of our country.

This program/class is guided by Marine Corps Combat veteran, Ryan Pentz. It is designed specifically for veterans, delivering a sequence of breathing, postures and yoga philosophy - geared to those new to yoga with a military background.

Studies have demonstrated how yoga can profoundly improve the physical and mental well-being of those who have served our country.

Here’s how yoga helps:

  • Mind-Body Connection: Yoga encourages the participant to focus on the present moment, which can reduce anxiety and prevent burnout from escalating. By tuning into the body’s signals, one can identify stress before it becomes overwhelming.
  • Breath Control: Pranayama, the breathing techniques used in yoga, are proven to lower stress levels by calming the nervous system. This can help reduce the feelings of emotional exhaustion and irritability that often accompany burnout.
  • Physical Relaxation: Yoga postures, particularly restorative poses, help release tension stored in the body. Research has shown that regular practice can improve sleep quality, reduce muscle tension, and alleviate fatigue.
  • Emotional Balance: Yoga has been shown to increase levels of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter linked to improved mood and reduced anxiety. This chemical shift in the brain can enhance one’s emotional resilience, allowing one to cope with stress more effectively.

Let's do everything we can to support our veterans and local community.

Community. Connecting. Gathering. Healing.

Our Veterans have selflessly served our country ... let's now give back and serve our Veterans.

Thank you for your consideration.
