About our group
#HappyPeriod is a Black-led nonprofit organization with a bold mission: to end period poverty and eradicate the stigma surrounding menstruation by increasing access to menstrual health products, education, and support. We believe that menstrual equity is a human right and a critical component of health equity. Our work sits at the intersection of gender justice, racial equity, and mental health, serving populations most impacted by systemic inequality — Black and Brown communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, youth, and people experiencing homelessness.
Our charity exists to normalize menstruation, restore dignity, create cultural change, and empower communities that have historically been excluded from traditional reproductive health narratives.
Through our flow: a period care program, we established an on-site supply hub stocked with free menstrual kits, along with mental health resources tailored for teens. We host a peer-led workshop where students could openly discuss menstrual health and emotional wellbeing without fear of judgment.
Location Palmdale, California, United States
Focus Areas Advocacy & Social Justice, Education, Girls & Women, Health, LGBTQ
Membership Focus American Indian or Alaska Native and Black or African American
Founded February 2015
