About our group
The Literacy and Education Initiative
Do you believe that literacy is the key to unlocking a world of opportunity? Are you committed to ensuring every person in our community has the skills they need to succeed?
The Literacy and Education Initiative is a giving circle dedicated to tackling illiteracy and improving educational outcomes right here in Palm Beach County. We fund nonprofit organizations that are building a stronger, more knowledgeable community - one reader, one student, and one story at a time.
Why Your Contribution Matters:
78% of incarcerated individuals read below basic for quantitative literacy compared to 54% of non-imprisoned adults, a 24% gap in reading proficiency for those imprisoned. Illiteracy creates barriers that can last a lifetime, limiting a person's potential for employment, health, and civic engagement. Our initiative prioritizes programs that provide equitable access to literacy resources and empower learners of all ages.
By pooling our resources, we invest in innovative strategies that are proven to break the cycle of illiteracy. We support organizations that:
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and mentorship for struggling readers.
- Offer access to books and educational materials for underserved communities.
- Implement technology-driven learning programs that make education accessible to all.
Join the Literacy and Education Initiative and help us invest in the future of our community. Together, we can unlock the potential of every individual and build a foundation for lifelong success.
