Welcome to my giving circle! The States Project follows the conviction that there is a compelling path to shifting power in 2022, and that it all begins at the state level. Races are won on the margin. I am at a point where I feel so helpless and discouraged by our country, that I cannot watch from the sidelines. Here is a space where we can do what we can to build the walls of democracy back, so that they can and will support the roof over our head...the one that just caved in after years of foundational issues. The stakes in the states are high, and the margins of victories are razor thin.

Our democracy is at stake, and it can be overwhelming to know where to give. I strongly believe that the place to start is in the state legislatures. The right has been organizing and winning majorities in swing state capitals across the country for decades and Democrats are now at a major disadvantage. In all but one of the key swing states, Republicans control BOTH state legislative bodies. This giving circle supports Michigan and Arizona, two of The States Project's list of strategic targets because these two swing states are essential for a Democratic Presidential victory in 2024.

About Michigan: The Republican majorities are held by just two seats in the Michigan House and three seats in the Senate and after redistricting the maps are in our favor. The States Project sees an opportunity to flip both the House and Senate in Michigan. Learn more about Michigan , here.

About Arizona: In 2020, if just 1,028 of the almost 3.4 million votes cast by Arizonans flipped, the Arizona House would no longer have unchecked rightwing control and in the Arizona Senate, Republicans kept control by just 2,338 votes. The States Project has worked to support new majorities committed to improving lives in the Arizona legislature since 2018, and just a few hundred votes could determine control of both chambers in 2022, the thinnest margins in a century. 100% of our donations will go to these states, split evenly. There are no overhead costs and States Project even covers the credit card fees. The States Project works directly with local candidates and state parties to spend smartly - there is no bureaucratic level between the resources and the candidate. They ensure that your dollars are spent on evidence-based tactics and best practices and they deliver knowledge and infrastructure for the current cycle and beyond.
