About our group
The point is not to pay back kindness, but to pass it on.
~ Julia Alvarez, author
The purpose of the Pass It On Giving Circle is to unite and inspire a broad spectrum of multicultural womxn and non-binary people to honor the female spirit of leadership by celebrating and rewarding Global Majority womxn leaders. Our hope is to help propel them ever-forward, to continue to make an impact in their communities.
Our intention is to be inclusive. Our language is evolving. We welcome anyone who self-identifies as female or non-binary and who wishes to make a commitment of time and resources to our giving circle. All are welcome to participate.
Honorees of the Giving Circle will be Global Majority, dynamic womxn or non-binary leaders who are successfully leading impactful organizations and/or who are making a demonstrable positive impact in creating a thriving community in the Puget Sound region. Our aim is to give visibility to a range of BIPOC female leadership styles and practices.
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 and distribute it through a transparent process, selecting two grant recipients in two age categories, before end of year.
The term "global majority" is used interchangeably with "black, indigenous, and people of color" (BIPOC), who represent over 80% of the world’s population. This wording points out the demographic inaccuracy of the euphemism "minority" and can feel more empowering for some people.
