GRAPEVINE’S 2023 YEAR IN REVIEW

Q1

In Q1, we built a 1:1 coffee chats pairing feature as a way to facilitate more connections between Giving Circle members.

We also built nomination certificates for nonprofits to easily share their nomination with their networks and a Thank You video feature to enable nominees to share more about themselves with Giving Circle members prior to their vote.

We continued our speaker series kicking things off with Hali Lee to discuss what was ahead for Giving Circles in 2023.

Q2

We welcomed our new Customer Support & Success Manager, Brittney Montgomery to the team!

We formed a new Giving Circle Growth Council of marketing and PR professionals in the Grapevine community lending their expertise to help grow the collective giving movement.

At the We Give Summit in May, we hosted a networking session facilitating connections with members of Giving Circles and led a session for Giving Leaders - Run Hybrid Events for your Giving Circle like a Pro.

We hosted How Giving Circles Deepen Connection and Purpose within Teams and ERGs as part of our speaker series and were joined by Alyssa Dver (Chair & Founder of The ERG Leadership Alliance) and Cheyenne Cameron-Pruitt (Senior Manager of DE&I Programs at FleishmanHillard).

Q3

In August, we reached our $25M donation milestone!

We also launched our Leader Buddy Program to give leaders a space to learn from and support one another 1:1.

We created a nonprofit toolkit to walk nonprofits through how to connect with Giving Circles and be considered for a group's grant or leverage the collective giving model to create their own recurring donor program.

We launched the Newman’s Own Community Fund in collaboration with Newman’s Own Foundation - they kicked things off with a $100,000 community giveaway, all in service of the Foundation’s mission to nourish and transform the lives of children who face adversity.

In August in celebration of Black Philanthropy Month, we joined the Back Black Campaign comprising many giving platforms and our community raised over $23K for various Black-led nonprofits and community projects and hosted a panel titled Back Black Through Giving Circles.

We welcomed Charlotte Weiskittel as our new product lead!

Q4

We launched a partnership with Fidelity Charitable to help existing Giving Circles to grow and launch more than 25 new ones across 16 key states in the South Central and Mountain West regions.

Our community raised over $50K for nonprofits on Giving Tuesday and Grapevine matched the first $5K.

We launched a bookmark nonprofits feature so that members can easily bookmark nonprofits in their dashboards to have them ready to go when nominations open.

We closed out our speaker series with award-winning author Susan McPherson to discuss Networking with a Purpose.

We counted more than 175 Community workshops, trainings, and community events that we hosted in 2023!

In December, we reached our $30M donation milestone! 🎈

We’re proud of our incredible community of changemakers and our work to facilitate their impact, community & connection – in their words…

“In the last nine months, this group has raised over $18k for local nonprofits — small organizations directly impacting our community. I’ve had the honor of emceeing these events. Every time my heart feels tired, I think about what I’ve learned through this group: Together we can do so much."

— Mary Johnson, Fort Wayne Women for Good

“Last night I attended my first Gather & Grant Event! It was amazing to come together with the San Diego Women in Business for Good chapter and vote on our Q3 non-profit- Reality Changers. It was truly incredible to hear first-hand how much our donation helped others in the local community.”

— Lindsay Anderson, San Diego Women in Business for Good

"It's absolutely life changing. A Giving Circle grant is that fuel to keep that fire ignited."

— Cora Lee Poole, Denver Women in Business for Good Grant Recipient

“I get so much joy from being part of this group of philanthropic women. Honored to be one of MPWG's volunteer leaders and looking forward to seeing what year 2 brings!"

— Corinn Ploessl, Madison Women in Business for Good

“Great getting to know the folks at Healing Hoof Steps today. We keep making some great choices - organizations that are making a real difference in the lives of fellow community members.”

— Scott Rude, 100 Men Who Care - Emerald Coast

“I immediately loved how everyone was eager to be inclusive and invite people into the conversation.”

— Teylor Schiefelbein, Colorado Springs Women in Business for Good

How we plan to take on 2024

  • Expanding our community - continuing to launch new Giving Circles, invite new people to join, and make it even easier for anyone to find and join a Giving Circle.
  • Rolling out new product features, including –
    • Giving nonprofits more opportunities to interact with members
    • Building a more robust community experience to help members connect and engage with each other more
    • Expanding tools to make it even easier and more fun to be a leader
  • Supporting Giving Circle leaders to get started & grow – continuing to provide donation matching funds and support to our leaders in starting and managing their groups.
  • Expanding and amplifying the impact of the Giving Circle movement through partnerships – Fidelity Charitable, Bombas, Newman's Own Foundation and Evertrue, are just a few such 2024 partners, with many more to come.
