Bread & Roses
Lawrence, MA

Bread & Roses is a soup kitchen located in the center of Lawrence, MA - known as "The Immigrant City." Founded in 1980, our primary purpose is to ease the hunger in our community by providing a warm, nutritious meal to 120-150 individuals five nights each week - over 50,000 meals in one year. Our emergency pantry and community outreach programs deliver over 100,000 pounds of food every year to those in need. We serve those living on benefits, the working poor, and the homeless. All in need are welcome to partake of a community meal in a peaceful, friendly environment. Since hunger relief is our main concern, there is no cost for the meal. Completely supported by private donations, we are guided by a spirit of hospitality, nonviolence, and respect for the dignity of each person who comes through our door. We have long been a center of hope and caring for thousands in the Merrimack Valley struggling for survival. From the beginning, people of all different creeds, backgrounds and experiences have joined us as dinner guests, volunteers, and donors. We welcome this diversity, realizing that the coming together of so many is the first step in breaking down barriers and creating a community based on sharing, love, peace and justice.

PTSD Foundation of America
Houston, TX

The Mission of the PTSD Foundation of America is to bring hope and healing to Combat Veterans and their families suffering from the effects of combat-related Post Traumatic Stress. We do this by taking a whole-person approach, offering evidence-based peer-to-peer mentoring, both on an individual basis and in group settings. In addition, our programs and services are free to the Veteran and their family so that the focus remains on their journey to healing. We take a collaborative approach to raising awareness of the increasing needs of the military community by working with government agencies, service organizations, churches, and private sector businesses to combine resources. By taking our message to public events, media outlets, social media, and service organizations we can more effectively reach Veterans in crisis and make life-saving impact on the Veteran community.
