About our group
Leadership
SVP Portland brings professionals and organizations together in partnership to address community challenges. As venture philanthropists, we mobilize talent, money, and influence for investment in nonprofits and collaborations. That’s how we create the capacity to address our most entrenched problems.
Our current goal is to ensure that all children—regardless of ethnicity, wealth, religion, gender, or zip code—have access to high-quality, culturally-relevant early learning experiences.
There are people who want to make a difference in our community, who want to see a more socially just Portland. But they aren’t convinced their donations really have an impact, and they don’t know how to share their skills and influence along with their cash.
There are also people who have the vision, knowledge and approaches to change our community, to advance racial/ethnic equity, to support those who need it most. But they need more resources to achieve their goals.
SVP brings these Portlanders together to work for more enduring, structural change than anyone can achieve on their own.
It's unique, it's rewarding, and it's fun!
Individual donations are meaningful. A multitude of donations can do a world of good. We pool our Partners’ contributions and invest them in organizations with promising approaches for our most intractable community problems. Even better, our investments influence other funding sources to follow our lead. This multiplier effect makes an enormous difference for the organizations we support and gives our donors greater confidence in achieving their philanthropy goals.
Our Community Partners bring us opportunities for impact and expertise about solutions so we can focus efforts where it counts. SVP's Investor Partners give skills, connections, and money to help make change happen.
SVP has worked tirelessly to understand what leads to lasting, systemic change. The key is getting to the root causes. It’s focusing relentlessly on one definable goal and going all in. It’s funding proven and promising programs and advocating for policies that fuel those solutions. Engaging donors and community leaders this way is unique in the world of philanthropy. And it’s the best way to make an impact that lasts.
