About our group
We are a nonprofit community center in downtown Richmond, VA. Our mission is to connect our neighbors with one another, with community resources, and with Jesus. The majority of our neighbors who come in are experiencing homelessness and/or economic insecurity, and need access to vital resources such as information about how to get help in Richmond, computers, phones, and places to charge devices. We are not only a resource center, but we also work to build a supportive community through activities, work-readiness classes, and spending time just getting to know our neighbors experiencing homelessness in Richmond. We come alongside them, meeting them where they're at, and offering a supportive network to encourage them. One of our neighbors, Donna, says, "When you're homeless it's almost like you become invisible, so it's nice when someone will call you by your name." Another neighbor, Demetrial, says, "The thing that kept me coming back [to RVA Light] was the love here."
