About our group
The urgent crises in Haiti and Afghanistan are devastating women and girls. In Afghanistan, the hard fought gains for women’s rights are disappearing under the Taliban as they are systematically restricting every aspect of women’s lives and forcing women human rights defenders into hiding.
In Haiti, over 600,000 people are in need of humanitarian aid and 135,000 are displaced from their homes. During crises, women and girls are less likely to receive aid and more likely to be trafficked and experience violence. Haitian women nonprofit leaders are on the frontlines responding and working to ensure that the most marginalized people aren’t left behind. However, when it comes to distributing financial aid, women’s nonprofits in Haiti are being overlooked.
What do they need?
Women leaders in Afghanistan need protection, safety, support, and cash assistance as they’ve had to leave everything behind. If there is any chance for an independent future for Afghan women and girls, we must act now.
In Haiti, women-led organizations desperately need funding to provide food, shelter, care and help to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. Their work ensures that women, girls and other marginalized populations are not left behind.
