About our group

Many Hands leverages the power of collective giving to support nonprofits serving and empowering Washington, DC area women, children, and families in socioeconomic need.

We pool gifts from 250+ members and friends to make high-dollar, low-strings grants to local nonprofits working in the fields of economic empowerment, education, health, and housing. Members serving on review committees identify four grantees each year through a thoughtful deliberative process. One grantee receives the $100,000 Impact Grant, based on members' votes. Three grantees receive Partner Grants ($70,000 each in 2023).

We also engage members and friends through education events designed to promote excellence in grantmaking and build mutually beneficial relationships with grantees. Our monthly newsletter shares information about events, program and grantee updates, and member-focused features.
