About our group

State governments are the core of our democracy, the firewall we need to protect everything we hold dear, including voting rights, reproductive rights, civil rights, healthcare, school funding, environmental justice, gun safety, and clean drinking water.

Over the past few years, the importance of state government has become even more clear, which is why our Los Angeles Giving Circle is proud to support the critical work of The States Project, to build a better future on the state level, where so much is at stake.

The Los Angeles Giving Circle (which had our beloved Willie Garson as one of its founders) is led by Cindy Chupack, Helen Eigenberg, Jennifer Flackett, Jonathan Gottlieb, Jennifer Levin, Mark Levin, Alison Morgan, Marcy Morris, Jamie Rosenblood, and Sarah Timberman. Our members are scores of Angelenos and their loved ones who want to make a difference across the country.

Each year we hold a State Selection Zoom where we choose which state or states we want to support in trying to flip or protect a majority. Each year, a donation of ANY SIZE makes you a member of our giving circle and allows you to participate in state selection.

For 2022 our State Selection Zoom was held June 6, 2022, and we voted to support (and try to flip) Arizona and Michigan. But thanks to an influx of showrunners/creators who are fighting for abortion rights, we upped our goal and added our third vote-getter, North Carolina, to the list of states we are supporting this cycle.

Thanks to all who donated in 2022, we met and SURPASSED our goal of $250,000, and any additional funds we raise will now go to the Rapid Response needs of The States Project states and candidates.
