About our group

Heather Cox Richardson says, “Make our voices heard!” It’s up to us to step up for our democracy!

And you are! Thanks to your donations and spreading the word, over 200 generous souls have already donated to Tending to Democracy, and we blasted past our Level 4 goal of $25,000!

You rocked the Rapid Response fundraising to fill in the crucial gaps in the campaigns of our sponsored candidates!

You are living proof that many people with small dollars can support a few key state races to make a much bigger difference for positive change–compared to expensive national campaigns.

The easiest way to keep going is to share your experience with others. Post on social media, chat with friends, and share this powerful 2 minute video of Melissa (https://bit.ly/TSP-Intro) to invite others tend to our democracy! Send this webpage URL to them so they can join and/or donate to our efforts.

Let's keep going! And THANK YOU!

From a preview of the podcast Pod Save America with Barack Obama: He said democracy is fragile and we need to tend to it. Guess we had picked the right name for our Giving Circle. 😊

Have you seen The States Project (that's you!) in the news? LA Times, NY Times, and here is The Atlantic. They quoted Executive Director Daniel Squadron in their article, "The Most Important Races of 2022 Aren’t for Congress:"

“'A single state legislative race in Michigan or Arizona could well prove more important to our future than any congressional or U.S. Senate race in America,' Daniel Squadron, a co-founder of the States Project, told me.....The States Project is also investing in a few states where Democrats narrowly control the legislature, including Maine and Nevada. But Squadron defended the decision to play offense elsewhere, noting that swaying state legislative races costs 'a fraction' of what it does to influence statewide and national elections."
