Teaching Artist Project (TAP)

ArtistYear, a proud part of the AmeriCorps network, is the first national service program that enables artists to dedicate a year of service to our country​. ArtistYear recruits, trains, and supports artists who seek to harness their unique skills and dedicate themselves as full-time teaching-artists to underserved youth.

ASTEP was conceived by Broadway Musical Director Mary-Mitchell Campbell and Juilliard students to transform the lives of youth using the most powerful tool they had: their art. Today, ASTEP connects performing and visual artists with underserved youth in the U.S. and around the world to awaken their imaginations, foster critical thinking, and help them break the cycle of poverty.

Arts For All offers accessible artistic opportunities to children in the New York City area, who face socio-economic, physical, or emotional barriers to exploring the arts. Through Arts For All, professional artists work with youth organizations to build self-confidence, self-expression, teamwork, resilience, and creativity in children.

We are the arts council for the borough of Brooklyn. We bring leadership and energy to every part of Brooklyn’s arts scene, supporting and connecting it all. It doesn’t matter where you fit into the arts—artist, audience member, participant, venue, educator or supporter—we want you to create and experience the arts in every neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute produces an extraordinary range of music education and social impact programs each season that extend far outside the physical walls of our concert halls. These programs will reach over half a million people in New York City, across the US, and around the globe during the 2017–2018 season.

Founded in 1986, City Lore’s mission is to foster New York City – and America’s – living cultural heritage through education and public programs. We document, present, and advocate for New York City’s grassroots cultures to ensure their living legacy in stories and histories, places and traditions.

Community-Word Project is a New York City based 501(c)(3) arts-in-education organization that inspires children in underserved communities to read, interpret and respond to their world and to become active citizens through collaborative arts residencies and teacher training programs.

DreamYard collaborates with Bronx youth, families and schools to build pathways to equity and opportunity through the arts.

Founded in 1983, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is one of America’s most prominent, culturally-specific dance companies, serving more than 45,000 people nationwide each year through far-reaching programs that entertain, educate and empower.

Our mission is to encourage creative aging by promoting the inclusion of professional arts programs in organizations that serve older adults; to prepare artists to develop the creative capacity of older adult learners; and to foster lifelong learning in and through the arts by increasing opportunities for participation in community based programming.

Founded in 1977, Marquis Studios is a multi-disciplinary arts education organization with a staff of over 80 teaching artists and over 40 years of experience bringing arts education to students in New York City's public schools. Through an average of 450 residencies in 150 schools around the City annually, Marquis Studios directly serves 40,000 children each year. As the Kennedy Center VSA NY Affiliate organization, more than half of our grant funded programs serve classrooms containing students with disabilities.

National Dance Institute (NDI) was founded in 1976 by legendary New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d’Amboise, and leads the field of arts education with a model program that has been studied and replicated worldwide. Under the Artistic Direction of Ellen Weinstein, NDI uses dance and music to instill in students a love of the arts, a passion for learning, and a desire to strive for their personal best.

Opening Act gives high school students opportunities to develop leadership, community, and commitment through its innovative, high quality, free, After-School Theater Program. We strive to remain a consistent and positive force in our students’ lives, regardless of fluctuating school budgets and priorities.

Teachers & Writers Collaborative (T&W) seeks to educate the imagination, by offering innovative creative writing programs for students and teachers, and by providing a variety of publications and resources to support learning through the literary arts. T&W programs include writing workshops for students, professional development for educators, managing the New York Poetry Out Loud competition, and publishing Teachers & Writers Magazine and other resources about the teaching of creative writing.

The Center for Arts Education (CAE) is committed to ensuring that every child in every New York City public school has equal access to a well-rounded education of which the arts are a central component. We work to achieve this mission through school and community programs, professional development, parent engagement, and advocacy.

The Dedalus Foundation was founded in 1981 by the artist Robert Motherwell to support public understanding and appreciation of the principles of modern art and modernism.

Our mission is to reach out and expose diverse groups, especially young audiences, to all forms of the performing, visual, media and literary arts. We accomplish this by engaging professional artist-educators, who are inspired by the work they do and have a unique gift for sharing that inspiration with students.
