Why I joined Cincinnati Next-Gen Women for Good
Greetings, My name is Avery Allmond, and I am contacting you on behalf of the Couch Pennies Foundation. I am the Founder of Couch Pennies, and the mission is a very personal one. I am now 24 years of age, but at 19 I was diagnosed with MOGAD, an uncommon and incurable condition of the central nervous system with no known treatment. This illness affects one in one million people and causes one to become feeble, numb, paralyzed, blind, or even pass away. I have included a video link that explains more about my transition from a track and field star to a chronically ill young adult. As a result of my diagnosis, I decided to make a change, which led to the creation of Couch Pennies Foundation. Couch Pennies Foundation is a nonprofit organization, established for those affected by rare diseases, with a mission to draw awareness to those with rare diseases. Couch Pennies provides education and advocacy, and in the past four years has made a significant impact on the rare disease community.
