WellMet Philanthropy

WellMet Philanthropy supports and provides catalyst grants to emerging nonprofits in New York City through the power of collective giving and an actively engaged community of women.

In our 20-plus years of grantmaking, WellMet has given close to three million dollars to over 200 organizations across the five boroughs. We focus on direct services and our grantees typically work within the sectors of education and youth, immigration, community and workforce development, criminal justice reform, environmental justice and urban sustainability.

How we work

WellMet is a women-led philanthropic community. We meet four times a year to participate in a structured, research-based grantmaking process that funds emerging New York City nonprofits. Our members nominate nonprofits for grant consideration, vote on invitations to apply for a grant, conduct due diligence and site visits, recommend funding and vote on final grants.

Through Grapevine, we seek to spotlight the incredible work being done by our former grantees. While our annual grantmaking cycle is for members, we see our funds on this site as a way to invite more people into the grantmaking process and to share the benefit of our research and relationships with our dynamic family of organizations.
