About our group
P2B held its STATE SELECTION PARTY Feb. 25. Arizona won our first place vote! And Pennsylvania won second.
We are now raising early money to work in both Arizona statehouses. And we still have 1:1 MATCHING FUNDS to double your impact. We are halfway there - and when we reach our AZ goal of $60,000, we will turn to work for the Pennsylvania House. Both are critical battleground states this year.
Welcome to Purple to Blue! We are a community of people eager to protect our democracy. P2B is a Giving Circle working to elect Democratic majorities to state legislatures in key swing states. We believe this is the most efficient and effective strategy to keep government accountable to the voters. It’s often cheaper to flip an entire state legislative chamber than it is to win a single competitive Congressional district. Please join us!
Working with The States Project, the P2B Giving Circle leverages our mutual resources to make targeted political contributions where they have the greatest impact.
P2B started as a group of progressive-leaning alums of Amherst College, and their friends, raising money to elect Democratic majorities to state legislatures in swing states.
In 2025 we focused for a second time on the bell-wether state of Virginia -- and we were excited to be part of the blue wave that won both houses by big margins, and well as the governorship and attorney general. We helped make Virginia’s trifecta possible and can wait to see the way it improves the lives of Virginian voters.
In 2024, we supported candidates for the state legislatures in Arizona and Michigan. Although Democrats did not succeed in taking over the state legislature in Arizona and lost control of one of the chambers in Michigan, our contributions helped to minimize their losses.
In 2023, P2B invested in Virginia for the first time where every seat in the General Assembly was up for re-election. We scored major victories by flipping the House of Delegates and holding the Senate resulting in a Democratic majority in both chambers. In late 2024, P2B supported successful candidates in two special elections which allowed Democrats to retain those majorities.
Virginians continue to be represented by the most diverse slate of legislators in their history, who have protected access to abortion, passed historic climate legislation, safeguarded the right to vote and gun safety laws, and raised the minimum wage.
In 2022, P2B invested in the swing state of Pennsylvania. The money we raised helped 12 candidates win new seats and flip the State House. It also brought the wonderful Speaker Joanna McClinton to power. It was a big win for PA -- and rewarding for P2B. A Democratic majority remains in control of that chamber.
