Please Nominate Your Favorite NonProfit!

Hello everyone -

We are so excited for our second donation cycle. Last cycle, thanks to your generosity, we donated $4700 to Planned Parenthood of Delaware.

Now over 100 members strong, we are excited to contribute to another worthy local nonprofit. Please respond to this post below by nominating a charity you feel we should consider this cycle. All nominated entities must be 501(c)(3)s and will be vetted by Grapevine for eligibility.

The deadline for submission is July 16th, so put your thinking caps on and let us know who you think is worthy of our consideration. 😍 We can't wait to hear about them!!

On July 17th we will randomly select three names and reach out to the members who nominated them so they can present the non-profit to the membership at our next Gather and Grant on August 1st.

Hope to see some of you next Tuesday at the "Sip in Sun" at Constitution Yards.

Ann

A recent NYT article affected me deeply:

Unwanted Epidurals, Untreated Pain: Black Women Tell Their Birth Stories https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/06/upshot/black-births-maternal-mortality.html?smid=nytcore-android-share

"Regardless of income or education, Black mothers have worse birth outcomes."

From the BMIP website: (https://www.blackmothersinpower.org/mission-vision)

Black Mothers in Power seeks to eradicate racial health disparities for Black birthing people and Black babies throughout Delaware.

Black Mothers in Power envisions a state where all Black birthing people are informed about their birthing rights, have autonomy over their reproductive decisions, and are treated equitably in the healthcare system.

Regardless of whether BMIP is selected for this quarter's Gather and Grant, I hope you'll join me in supporting this critically important endeavor for Black families in Delaware. Thanks! 🩷

Theatre N would be a wonderful option! https://theatren.com/ If you're not familiar, It's an arthouse cinema in the Nemours building downtown (same building at The Mill). They foster youth programs, community events, various arthouse movies, and are looking to grow their program offerings!

For a cause and family near and dear to my heart, this local foundation has turned the worst situation into a positive by helping to make resources available for high school and college students suffering mental health battles. More information about the foundation, and Sean, can be found on their website: https://www.unlockethelight.com/our-mission/
