NYC COVID-19 Response & Recovery Fund

Tipped workers and other service workers were already struggling. In this crisis, they need our help. We’re providing cash assistance to restaurant workers, car service drivers, delivery workers, personal service workers and more who need the money they aren’t getting to survive.

The Brooklyn Community Foundation will issue grants to front-line service organizations that provide lifelines for vulnerable populations, meal delivery and daily living needs for homebound neighbors, support for low-wage workers who may experience food insecurity, loss of wages, and limited access to healthcare and paid sick leave, as well as other emerging needs.

Through this time of uncertainty, we resolve to stay open to serve one of the most vulnerable populations in our city. Most of our neighbors in need don’t have the option to “stay at home” to avoid risk to themselves or others — so we are reliant on friends like you who choose to give time and resources. The Coronavirus Financial Impact Loan Program provides interest-free loans of $2,000-$5,000 to residents of New York City’s five boroughs, Westchester, or Long Island who are facing financial challenges caused by the Coronavirus outbreak. These loans are intended to address: Lost wages due to being unable to go to work, Child care costs due to school closures, Small business losses, and Related medical costs.

Your donation will help stabilize and strengthen the financial lives of thousands of lower-income New Yorkers. Every $1 contributed to HFLS mobilizes $10 in interest-free loans. As loans are repaid, the capital is lent out again and again, helping more people and multiplying the impact over time.
