A States Project Giving Circle
About our group
NOW IS THE TIME FOR ACTION (AND A BIT OF ALCHEMY)
Like you, we are worried about the future of American democracy.
Inspired by the motto “Turn despair into action” we decided to initiate a Giving Circle through the States Project. The States Project is an organization working to shift the balance of power in the states. The goal is to flip targeted, key red state legislatures and turn them blue! In some states, like Arizona, only two seats need to be flipped in order to have Democrats in the majority.
Justice Louis Brandeis once referred to the states as laboratories of democracy. Many important federal protections began as laws created in state legislatures, including securing affordable healthcare, legalizing gay marriage, promoting environmental justice, and safeguarding voting rights. These laboratories can only happen in states where legislators are dedicated to bringing about positive change. States matter!
With our “A Matter of States Giving Circle” we are reaching out to each of you to support The States Project with the hope of bringing back and preserving reason and justice. Please check out their video explaining Giving Circles here and their website here.
We hope our financial contributions can help provide the alchemy to change the legislatures in these states of matter.
OUR GOAL
We are hoping to raise at least $2000 to donate to The States Project. That money will go to campaigns in states and districts that The States Project has identified, through research, as winnable.
