I'd like to nominate the Refugee Education Center.

I used to volunteer and work with refugees in Grand Rapids as a cultural mentor and tutor to gain citizenship. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I'd love to see some of our funds go to a nonprofit that helps these folks assimilate and become members of our community.

I'd like to nominate Partners Relief & Development.

Partners provides emergency relief to kids & families in conflict zones. Through close-knit relationships and passionate local staff, they work closely with communities to address healthcare, education, and livelihoods.

To me, Partners is an avenue to push back despair and be hope when I see people suffering because of war and crises. I love that they are a small organization that centers the voices & wisdom of community members.

Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids provides free emotional healthcare to children, adults, families, and friends on any kind of cancer journey or those grieving the death of someone in their life due to any cause. Grief can be overwhelming and knowing the overwhelming amount of people who deal with Cancer made me want to know this precious group of people.

In 1891, a small group of women set out to help people who couldn’t afford health care. The Grand Rapids community came together in the name of all Marys. Today, Mary Free Bed is the nation’s most comprehensive rehabilitation provider and one of the largest not-for-profit, independent rehabilitation hospital systems in the country. They offer specialized physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) programs and services.
