About our group

Our giving circle works to empower girls and strengthen communities in Southern Africa.

Believing in yourself is very difficult to do when your society sees you as “less than” because you’re a girl. It’s nearly impossible without support. Global Sojourns Giving Circle (GSGC), in partnership with local changemakers, provides this support.

At the heart of our work is: I See You • I Hear You • I Believe in You.

As a registered 501(c)(3) organization with beneficiaries in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar & South Africa. We provide grants to community-based organizations run by dynamic changemakers who provide mentorship to youth, with a focus on empowering girls and the ultimate goal of breaking the cycle of deep poverty.

Because gender equality will only happen if males support equal education and opportunities for girls, our grants also support boys. GSGC-supported boys club members have begun are learning the importance and value of empowered girls, and are talking to village leaders about supporting equal education.

As we have worked alongside these generous local leaders, we have been listening. Their voices have guided our every step.

The seemingly impossible is becoming possible. School-leaving statistics are improving. More graduates are enrolling in post-secondary study. Teenage pregnancies are being avoided. Gender discrimination is improving. Violence against girls is lessening. Attitudes are changing.
