About our group
When Congressman James Clyburn from South Carolina first ran for office, he could only afford one 30-second spot. In it, he quickly told a story from his boyhood when he was driving in the car with his dad and they came upon a fallen branch partially blocking the road. They could have driven around it, but his dad pulled over, and they got out and moved the branch. His dad then told Jim to be the kind of person who moves the branch instead of leaving it for others to pick up. Rep. Clyburn won that election. People showed up at the polls saying, “I’m voting for the guy with the branch.”
