Granite State Giving Circle

About our group

Last year you joined us in supporting NH state legislative elections via this Giving Circle. Some of the winning margins for our candidates were breathtakingly close (Eric Turer won by 15 votes, Ben Ming won by 129 votes, Heather Baldwin won by 137 votes). We are still a few seats shy of the majority, and this year, special elections could be decisive on that front.

That's why I hope you'll join me in jumping in to help with a Feb 21 special election in NH House District Strafford 8. The November election was a tie! This resulted in a new election for this seat. The candidate is Chuck Grassie, who is the incumbent for the district. As a state representative, he has introduced bills to protect drinking water from toxins and to safeguard reproductive rights in New Hampshire.

With such a narrow margin in the chamber, 197-201, we need to hold every seat to have the best possible chance to block the rightwing majority’s agenda in the House. For the same reasons, the rightwing is motivated to keep this seat to expand their majority.
