About our group
We believe in collective action to protect our democracy. One way that we are contributing is by raising money with The States Project to elect majority-making candidates who will shift the balance of power to the left in the VA state legislature.
Our Giving Circle plans to support Virginia for the November 2023 election!
In the Virginia State Senate, the rightwing is two seats away from the majority. In the House of Delegates, they hold the majority by two seats. If power shifts in the Senate, there would be a new rightwing trifecta in Virginia. We cannot let that happen.
A focus will be on the States Project’s signature Door Knocking Challenge. Participating candidates get rewarded with larger campaign contributions based on the number of doors they’ve knocked. Instead of dialing donors for dollars, candidates can focus on what matters: meeting their voters face-to-face in the field.
VALUE
In contrast to the sky-high costs of federal elections, even $10,000 can make the difference between winning and losing a state-level race. The States Project targets purple and red states where relatively modest amounts can break a GOP supermajority or flip a legislative chamber. The money is invested in deep canvassing, diverse trained campaign staff, and direct support to endorsed candidates.
100% of the amount we raise goes out the door to states, 0% of these dollars cover organizational overhead.
