Nomination Guidelines

New York Women in Business for Good strives to support nonprofits whose primary purpose is charitable service to the community. Together, we pool our resources to make the most impact possible.

In order to nominate, you need to have made a donation for the cycle
Nominations must be a 501c3 public charity (or be fiscally sponsored by one) aligned with our focus area
You can nominate nonprofits you’re affiliated with, just please disclose this in your nomination detail
We only send funds to public charities, not to private foundations

Her Justice is a non-profit that recruits caring and talented attorneys from New York City’s law firms to provide free legal services to low-income women, many of whom are domestic violence victims. Friends who have volunteered as attorneys have represented women in divorce, child custody and child support cases and speak highly of the impact they've been able to have.

If you're familiar with the kind of work that Kim Kardashian is doing to get wrongfully convicted individuals out of incarceration... you may also be familiar with The Innocence Project and the Equal Justice Initiative! I've been donating to The Innocence Project for about fifteen years - the stories make me cry, and I believe so strongly in supporting these folks whose lives were taken away from them unjustly by our broken criminal justice system ... but still have a chance to get them back.

I'd love to make you all aware of The Innocence Project (and for a reference point, look up the lovely, recently exonerated Perry Lott, who, upon getting his freedom after 35 years, said, "I feel like a firecracker.")

These extraordinary young women were starting careers after being sequestered in a community that discouraged their independence. Both interns were bright, hardworking and incredibly talented and have gone on to pursue very successful lives and careers. I am excited to nominate Footsteps for consideration.
